I am fairly new to Computer Management with JSS. Currently I am developing for 2 different sites and just getting started. Some of the Policies and such that we created in the Jumpstart are going to all devices on both sites, regardless of which site it is set too. So I am attempting to figure out a way that when the device is Quick Added, it can then be placed into a SmartGroup or Static Group based on the site.....and then policies and configurations applied from there. Is this feasible? Or will I need to manually scope them to a Static Group once they are added? And then policies applied from there?

You can set a site when you create a quickadd package with recon. Have you tried that and it's not working?

If you create a QuickAdd.pkg for each Site using Recon.app you won't have to set any sites manually. From there, you need to assign the Policy to a Site to ensure Macs from another Site cannot be added or scoped. You would only need to assign a Site to Policies if they are specific to that location.
If you want to add the ability to use a Site as criteria in a Smart Computer Group, you will need to add an Extension Attribute to bring that Site data in for scoping. You can find one here: https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/viewProductFile.html?fid=689
You will need to put your JSS address and user credentials into the Extension Attribute to make it work, since it uses the JSS API to query the Site data. It's a total work-around but can confirm you can add a Site to the scope of a Smart Computer Group using this method. I used to use something similar.

Okay I do see on Recon it gives me site options.....and just has Item 1, Item 2, etc......how do I set sites in there?
Thank you themacallan, my intitial thought was to scope by site, but then read it was not possible. I see your solution makes it possible and will be something we will need to look into further as we learn our way around JSS! Never added an extension before......sooooo much to learn!

@MichelleESU9 There is a known defect in Recon 9.82. I'm guessing you're trying to create the packages on a clean Mac that doesn't have Casper installed. If you build the Quick Add packages on a Mac that is enrolled into the JSS you will see the sites that are in your JSS.

@Brad_G Wow! Thanks for linking to that. Did not know about that existing bug.

Brad_G Enrolled meaning that it needs to be in the DEP? Which it's an older machine that I am learning on, and not in the DEP. And yes....I keep wiping it clean and trying to set it up as if it was a new machine. And yes it is the newer version of Recon 9.82

@MichelleESU9 no not Dep. Run Recon on your machine to get it into the JSS. Then try Recon again. It should show sites. Build your Quick Add package and then you can wipe your machine again for creating new packages.

So I need to install recon on the machine itself and run it? Hmmmm.....okay
