Hi fellow Mac admins,
I have an issue with enabling Touch ID on new MacBook Pro devices. I have a configuration profile allowing the use of Touch ID to unlock the device, however users can't do precisely that. The check box quickly becomes checked and then unchecked again.
Using bioutil I get the following return on settings. I suspect that "Effective Touch ID for unlock:0" may be the cause of this.
sudo bioutil -r
User Touch ID configuration:
Touch ID for unlock: 1
Touch ID for ApplePay: 1
Effective Touch ID for unlock: 0
Effective Touch ID for ApplePay: 1
Operation performed successfully.
However I can not make any changes using bioutil as I get the following error:
sudo bioutil -w -s -u 1
Unlock with Touch ID is managed via a configuration profile. You have to uninstall the profile first.
Error occured, err = 0x1.
My search for "Effective Touch ID" has so far been fruitless. Any advice greatly appreciated.
