I have seen some interesting approaches to configuration management using the api and git. This is particularly interesting to enterprise. I made the above feature request a while back but it did not seem to get a lot of traction. I am wondering why? What is your configuration management solution? What should JAMF do about this is anything?

No bites. Well how do you do configuration management in you environment?

In a lot of cases we just use Casper to feed into another system. Our customers have generally needed a tool that has full network discovery capabilities and that covers all types of network endpoints rather than just the Macs so Casper has just been used as a comparison to determine which of the discovered devices are being "managed".
