Hi Guys,
I was just wondering if Casper 8 is going to support Mavericks or if we'll need to start looking @ 9.
Just looking @ my project plan & worried I might not be able to squeeze in full v9 testing.
(Hoping a JAMFer will reply & that this post will help others).

Happy to respond here, bentoms
There will be releases of the Casper Suite in the 8 series that have limited support for Mavericks. The intent here is to provide support for Mavericks without forcing the upgrade to version 9.0 of the Casper Suite for reasons just like what was mentioned.
Thanks for the question!

Hi mmcnellis -
We will have limited support for both Mavericks and iOS7 in the 8 series. We will make sure everyone can support the new Apple releases without having to upgrade to Casper Suite 9.0 right away.
Let us know if you have any other questions!

Same concern as bentoms only in relationship to iOS 7. Will V8 receive an update with the release of 7 and if so, is it also with limited support? Thanks.

That's great news guys! We might also need to hold a bit on version 9, but may be forced at some point by Apple to start supporting Mavericks, depending on what new hardware they release after its out.

I know it's a bit hard to go into specifics with Mavericks and iOS7 at this stage but the term "limited" implies that not everything from the new operating systems will be supported. Our install which starts on Monday has been set up for v8 but if there is a good reason to go with v9 to start with it would avoid a project to upgrade at a later date. Is there anything you are able to elaborate on that would help us make a decision on which way to go? We will definitely have machines running Mavericks from shortly after it is released as we have a fairly constant refresh of out of lease machines.

Hi marcusransom -
When we say limited support, we plan on iOS7 and Mavericks being fully supported operating systems. We would just not embrace new technologies added by Apple in these releases.
We will continue to have full support for all new Apple technologies in the 9 series. Does this help? Let us know if we can elaborate further here or let your account manager know and we can talk further.
Thanks!

Hi Jake,
thanks for the clarification - this makes things a lot clearer.
