If you like fish, go to Zelo on the Nicollet Mall. http://www.zelomn.com

But then again, there's a lot to savor in Dinkytown, too...

McCormick & Schmick's on the Nicolette Mall...but if anyone mentions "Let's go to Brit's Pub" after the meal, run to your hotel room or eat enough that you don't feel like a beverage. Also, avoid the Old Speckled Hen adult beverage...it's the Devil.

McCormick & Schmick's is a chain. Avoid chains when you travel, why eat somewhere that you can eat when you're at home?

Chip Pearson raves about Spoonriver, next to the Guthrie, but I've never been.

Barrio tequila bar on Nicollet is good. Lot of different varieties.

Kindee Thai close to the Guthrie is OK. Grumpy's bar (next to the old JAMF HQ) for tater tots!

Hell's Kitchen and The Foshay = great breakfasts.

Minneapolis has a vibrant local restaurant scene...

The Wienery is reasonably close to the Guthrie. Bring cash

Oh, and J.D. Hoyt's has awesome pork chops

Last year I loved hitting the Crooked Pint for pub fare and good micro brews!

Now this is my kind of discussion! All of them are within cab distance, and well worth your time & money while in Minneapolis

1029 Bar (cab)
http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-1029-bar-minneapolis
Minnesota dive bar with lobster dishes on their menu (literally)
Seat yourself, nothing fancy!
Lobster Mac n' Cheese seen on Diners, Drive Ins & Dives
Pull tabs, awesome bloody marys, karaoke, bras in the rafters, sassy waitresses...perfection really

Pig Ate My Pizza (used to be Travail, same cooks) (cab)
http://www.yelp.com/biz/pig-ate-my-pizza-robbinsdale
Have unique pizzas, but, do the small plates or the 8 course tasting menu for two ($60 total for two people on Tuesday and Wednesdays) if you have time
No reservations, wait is worth it and have good drink selection
Chefs have been getting recognition nationally (including a James Beard nomination)
Everything I've ever had is good

Kramarczuk's (walking, about .6 miles)
http://www.yelp.com/biz/kramarczuks-sausage-company-minneapolis
Eastern European staple food in NE Minneapolis
Cafeteria style
* Ever heard of a Kolachi? Yum.

Second Christos recommendation on Butcher & the Boar (cab or ambitious walk)
* Get reservations!

If you're into more of a divey bar, I'm a big fan of Grumpy's on Washington.

http://grumpys-bar.com/downtown/

Good food, good beer selection, short walk from the Guthrie, and probably the most likely place to find me when I'm in Minneapolis.

JAMF bus tour around Minneapolis? Stopping at pubs and local restaurants. That would be a fun bus.

Nice craft beer tap selection. Lots of local brews and the food is good.

I've created a mini event for us all to get something organized.

https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/jnucEvent.html?eventId=25

Since I don't know when everyone arrives and departs I've made it for the finial evening. Plus, I figured no one wants to attend any sessions at 8:00am following this event.

This will be my first JNUC so if there is typically something already planned during this time we can certainly change it.

From the looks of it there are a fair number of you staying at the Aloft. I'm new to Minnesota but I've heard of both Grumpy's & Crooked Pint a few times around town. Since they are within crawling distance of the Aloft I thought we would at least start in this area.
