Payload Variable in Custom Configuration Profile Not populating values.

Hello,
i am deploying custom profile (.mobileconfig) file. I have added payload variable $EMAIL to get email address of the associated user . But when i try to view the profile in machine i didnt see email .It only shows the same $EMAIL placeholder.

I'm something similar in iOS VPN profile, for $username. Might be time to open a case...

CaSe matters! Need to use all UPPER CASE with variables in the profiles! Switching to $USERNAME solved the problem!

I attempted $EMAIL and $USERNAME when attempting to deploy a Mail Profile to a user. When deployed, '$EMAIL' and '$USERNAME' is all I see on the iPad. Do I need to activate the variables?

I answered my own question. Payload variables can be referenced with %EMAIL% instead of $EMAIL.
